"I have been receiving Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy from
Abigail for over a year. I have found this therapy to be an incredibly
empowering form of healthcare as it has been providing me with pain relief from difficult menstruation. Beyond this relief from pain, I was able to learn how to do this therapy from Abigail in the form of 'self-care' allowing me to work on myself at home. From this experience I have gained a deeper connection with my body and my health. Abigail has been such a pleasure to work with through her focused, intentional healing presence and touch."

Your initial session is approximately 2.5 hours long. In this time Abigail will begin by reviewing your intake form, take a detailed health history, and discuss with you your wellness goals. Next, she will apply a warm castor oil pack to your abdomen, followed by an external physical assessment of your pelvic/abdominal organs and lumbar/sacral area. Then she will perform the Maya abdominal massage as you relax in her cozy studio.
The massage is gentle and external; you will be modestly draped throughout. As part of your initial appointment you will also receive instruction on Self Care Massage to enhance the effectiveness of your therapy. Self Care abdominal massage provides you a means to take an active part in your own health and healing. The techniques are easy to learn in one session, and best results are achieved when clients apply them at home on a regular basis. Afterwards, you will discuss additional therapies that will support your health based on her findings such as diet/supplements/herbs, castor oil packs, a faja, and bajos (traditional Maya herbal pelvic steams).
Follow-up appointments are scheduled every 1 - 4 weeks as needed. These sessions are 1.5 hours long, and include both consultation and manual therapy.
Initial appointments may be divided into 2 sessions: a one hour intake/consultation and a 1.5 hour therapy appointment. This can be beneficial for working around menstrual cycles, client availability and for breastfeeding mamas.
Note: All aspects of your health and wellbeing are important, thus Rebirth Holistic Women's Wellness avoids use of chemicals and toxins in both the studio and your session. We use Berkey filtered water, organic teas, natural cleaning products and laundry soaps and herbal massage oils in organic coconut oil or olive base.
Your treatment is enhanced by the amethyst-filled Biomat lining the massage table. The Biomat emits both negative ions and far infrared light, which delivers a soothing, deep-penetrating heat while stimulating regeneration of damaged cells in your body. Research has shown that far infrared light stimulates the production of healthy cell tissue, promoting faster, more complete healing processes. Far infrared therapy also encourages the elimination of cellular wastes and toxins.
Maya abdominal massage is not performed for 5 days before and during menses, with an IUD, during the first trimester of pregnancy, in the first month postpartum and for 6-12 weeks after abdominal/pelvic surgery.
